Ag/GaN One Dimensional Photonic Crystal for Many Applications
We have investigated numerically the properties of a one dimensional metallo-dielectric photonic crystal (MDPC). The designed structure blocks the ultraviolet, transmits in the visible range, and reflects all other electromagnetic waves of lower frequencies from infrared to microwave and beyond. In the visible range, the average and the maximum transmission of our designed structure exceeding that of the previous designs, It is about 90%, and 94.7% of 400 nm, respectively. We found that the structure not more sensitive to the change of the incident angle, and suppress the resonance transmission peak of silver in UV region. This simple structure has many applications such as UV protective films, laser safety glasses, hot mirrors, electromagnetic radiation shield of the radio frequencies, a transparent window in microwave ovens, and transparent conductor electrode for the display panels and light emitting diodes.
