Scattering of Electrons by Multi-Walled Cylindrical Potentials

Extending our earlier work, we study the scattering of a beam of electrons incident along a transverse direction on a family of several coaxial cylindrical potentials. Solutions in closed form are obtained for the case of an incident plane wave, and a general form of the scattering potential. We analyze the partial and total cross sections for the specific case of a potential with two walls, and demonstrate the existence of pronounced "whispering" modes. For the case of a negative potential, we find that the existence of an additional outer potential leads to the creation of new quasi-bound states.
