Elaboration of Argan Oil Nanocapsules Containing Naproxen for Cosmetic and Transdermal Local Application

Recent nanotechnology boom in pharmaceutical preparations gave rise to a trend of taking multiple advantages from single preparation. In relation to these multitarget developments, this work has been aimed for a new domain of dual advantages of cosmetics and therapy using a single preparation. This work describes nanocapsules preparation using argan oil for therapeutic or cosmetic applications in dermatology. The method used for preparation is a modified nanoprecipitation technique where Eudragit®, ethanol and argan oil are used as polymer, solvent and carrier respectively. Primarily, feasibility study for argan oil addition was done using Capryol PGMC (propylene glycol monocaprylate). Then nanocapsules of anti-inflammatory drug naproxen were prepared with addition of argan oil. Both types of nanocapsules were characterized in terms of particle size and zeta potential while drug encapsulation was estimated using UV-spectrophotometer evaluations. Submicron particle size together having significant zeta potential values explain the stability of the preparation while drug encapsulation efficiency predicts the work as a promising approach for new trends in the field of dermatology termed as cosmeto-therapy.
