Solid polymer electrolytes based on poly(ethylene oxide) are prepared by using NaClO4 as doping salt in acetonitrile solvent. The structural and morphology studies were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The formation of PEO–NaClO4 composites are confirmed by FTIR spectra. The XRD patterns show an increase in amorphous phase in PEO/NaClO4 composites. The SEM micrograph of composites shows the significant change in the morphology. The DC conductivity measurements were carried out by using Keithley digital multimeter and it is observed that 30% filled NaClO4 with PEO shows highest conductivity. Electrochemical cell parameters of the composites have also been determined at room temperature for battery applications. The electrochemical cell parameters results in OCV of 3.2 mV and a SCC of 902 μA. Thus these composites can found application in solid-state batteries.
