Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Doped Cadmium Oxide Nanoparticles

The structural, optical and vibrational properties of Ag doped CdO nanoparticles prepared by co-precipitation method are being reported. The nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction, UV-Visible spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques. The average crystallite size of nanoparticles increased monatonically with doping cone, after doping consistently and this increase is assigned to doping induced enhancement in probability of Ag substitution on cationic sublattice near grain boundaries. The optical studies revealed that the band gap energy for Ag doped nanoparticles is blue shifted in comparison to that of bulk. Moreover, band gap energy increased consistently and is assigned to Burstein-Moss shift.
