An experimental investigation on the constitutive behaviour of lateral ties and volume fraction of engineered fibres with external wrapped GFRP concrete prisms was studied from the point of laterals dilation characteristics of concrete. The mechanism of arresting crack propagation and delaying the failure mode from transition zone to the matrix by the fibers can be made use in passive confinement of concrete. Such concrete was termed as confined engineered fibers reinforced concrete with external confined glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) concrete prisms. A total of sixty prisms of size 150 × 150 × 300 mm were cast and tested under strain rate control of loading. The variables considered in the investigation were the GFRP jacket, spacing of laterals ties and volume fraction of the engineered fibers. Improvements in the axial load-carrying capacities and failure strains of GFRPCFRC jacketed concrete members over unjacketed members are reported and the stress–strain curves are discussed in this paper.
