A Facile Strategy for the Synthesis of Flower-Like Structures with Enhanced Nano-Porous Surfaces
Herein we report a facile aqueous synthesis of Au–Ag flower-like structures with enhanced surface porous moiety and their electrochemical activity was explored. Galvanic replacement reaction is a simple and powerful route to form flower-like and porous metallic nanostructures. In this work, we prepared silver sol with a narrow particle size distribution through wet chemical reduction method using poly vinyl pyrrolidone and sodium borohydride as capping and reducing agents respectively. The silver sol is subjected to galvanic replacement reaction using gold chloride solution to prepare the nano-porous silver-gold and gold flower-like structures. The materials prepared are characterized through optical absorption spectroscopy, XRD, TEM and Electro-chemical techniques and the results are presented in this paper.
