The leadership effectiveness of the leaders in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines through identifying the leadership types as well as the degree of effective communication skills of its academic leaders is the main concern of this paper. Polytechnic University of the Philippines is an institution with quality based on the study’s findings as these reflect that its academic leaders presented a High Degree in terms of effective communication skills, both verbally and nonverbally. The findings also revealed that the academic leaders also possess good visioning skills and are considered caring (Transformational), but firm in tasks (Transactional). The study has the ability to facilitate the University’s role in creating strategies to match the country’s ailing education system since the academic institution is considered as the largest among other academic institutions in terms of student population.
