Recently, in many Indonesian cities, investment and physical growth need aid from small-medium economic actors. This phenomenon can be related to the change in business climate, worldwide monetary crises, and additionally the impact of popular government of the Indonesian economy. The greater part of this should lead the way to theorize the fast transformation on utilizing each lot of land viewed potential, particularly along the road corridors to urban center zones. The Special Region of Yogyakarta has an area of 3,185.8 km2 comprising one municipality and four districts (kabupaten) and has the population of 3.452 million people in 2017. This research aimed at investigating the spatial change of claiming business area in the primary road corridors of Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. It applied qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with key representatives of the stakeholders and content analysis to yield in a locally specific concept of spatial democracy and its transformation into a liberalized commercial area.
