Inflammation is a defensive reaction of the organism and its tissue to infection and occurs because of the release of inflammatory mediators. Garcinia species are known to have anti-inflammatory activity. The objective of this study was to test lipoxygenase inhibition activity of fraction from ethyl acetate extract of Garcinia porrecta Laness cortex. Ethyl acetate extract was fractionated by column chromatography using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol as mobile phase. Lipoxygenase inhibitory activity test had been done in vitro using spectrophotometer Uv-Vis at wavelength 254 nm. Phytochemical screening was determined at the most active fraction. The most active fraction which exhibited highest lipoxygenase inhibition activity has inhibition percentage of 48.50%. Phytochemical screening showed that the most active fraction contains flavonoid and terpenoid. Fraction from ethyl acetate extract of Garcinia porrecta Laness cortex has no significant lipoxygenase inhibition activity.
