This paper presents a discussion on the benefits and effectiveness of using a software called ‘Autograph’ in the teaching and learning of mathematics lessons, particularly in topics that involves graphical representations and illustrations. The Autograph software is a dynamic program that operates in 3 modes, namely, 1-Dimension (1D): Statistics and Probability; 2-Dimension (2D): Graphing, Coordinates, Transformations and Bivariate data; and finally, 3-Dimension (3D): Graphing, Coordinates and Transformations. Autograph allows users to observe, draw, change and animate graphs. A total of 60 Grade 11 students and two mathematics teachers were involved in the study. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, interviews and questionnaires. One of the benefits found in this study was that the students’ level of confidence in solving mathematical problems heightened when using Autograph.
