Assessments of Security Management in University Indonesia Libraries

Library security and collection security is very important to develop a collection security management assessment instrument in University libraries. The purpose of this study is an attempt to provide an assessment instrument that can be used by university library managers to assess collection security implementation in their libraries. One of the important aspects of preserving the library collection is security. Library collection may damage due to physical factor such as emergency exits are wrong, the computer room unattended, policies and procedures are weak, the lack of security plan. Library user is the main cause of the physical damage, by stealing, tearing, illegal borrowing and vandalizing. This is a quantitative research with questionnaire as a research tool. This study has shown the scale of assessment to the security of the collection linked to implementation of the policy in the University library. The author tried to connect and combine issues concerning the security of collections according to the literature published in journals as well as the use of these factors in the design of research instruments.
