Relational Dimension in SMS Reference
Messages have a relational dimension. How we present information bring particular relation. Radford (1993, 1996, 1999, 2006) studied the conversation on face-to-face and chat reference services to look up a relational dimension between client and librarian. She built relational facilitators and relational barriers concept in many researches. This research uses Radford’s concept to investigate the context of SMS reference services in Indonesia. Indonesian language that is used by National Library of Indonesia has its own interest. One conversation from SMS transcript underwent in-depth qualitative analysis. Research found that SMS conversation is rich with relational dimension.
