Plan for Reclamation Project of Benoa Bay Bali in Online Media Framing in Indonesia
This study aimed to assess any news regarding the reclamation project plan of Benoa Bay Bali by news portal kompas.com and bali.tribunnews.com. Land conversion has caused Bali to be narrower and require revitalization due to a more severe abrasion. The government of Bali believes that Benoa Bay is ideal for the creation of new land as an integrated tourist attraction. Agreement and disagreement arising from various parties have made such plan to be newsworthy for kompas.com and bali.tribunnews.com. This study used the framing model of Robert N. Entman to analyze 24 news from kompas.com and 16 news from bali.tribunnews.com from January to April 2016. The findings indicated that kompas.com calls the reclamation project plan as ecological and economic issues. People are encouraged to wait for the results of the study and find solutions to stop the ongoing polemics. Meanwhile, bali.tribunnews.com defines the reclamation plan as a matter of law and moral issues. Tribun draws a moral decision by urging the people of Bali to see the roots of everything, where everything done for development must refer to and be based on Tri Hita Karana.
