Despite considerable research investigations pointing to the connection between school climate and student achievement, there is a dearth of literature on the use of school climate as the basis for school improvement plan. Thus, this study on the school climate of University of Batangas
Lipa Campus (UBLC) has been conducted. Using the survey research design, the New Jersey School Climate Survey (NJSCS) was administered to 147 junior high school students and 14 junior high school teachers. Results show that on one hand, the students perceive that UBLC needs to improve on the
domains of safety, emotional environment, morale in the school community, and student relationships in the campus. On the other hand, data obtained from the teachers indicate that UBLC need to improve on administration support, teaching and learning, and emotional domains. Based on the findings
of this study, it is recommended that UBLC consider the integration and implementation of social and emotional learning (SEL) in its school improvement plan.
