Structure Reminiscence Intervention Screening-Based Observation

Indonesia is a big country with a big number of people, and has tend to increase the number of elderly. In order to prevent early dementia, the elderly needs a non-pharmacological intervention. The structure observation has modified by MMSE and FRS and validated test with Cronbach value 0.796 and correlated item-total 0.641 for MMSE and Cronbach’s 0.850 with corrected item-total correlation 0.242–0.946 for RFS and statistic test between MMSE and FRS (r = 0.887; p = 0.000). It was positive correlation, meaning that the more good cognitive function, the more good reminiscence function in communication. The structure Reminiscence Screening Based Observation has created to measure variety of topics and intensity of reminiscence among 22 elderlies. The outcome of this study was used to optimize the cognitive function, so that the elderly at a nursing home in Jakarta prevent to be early dementia. This tool has been tested by Spearman’s correlation coefficient with sig value. (2-tailed) was 0.032 and the correlation coefficient was 0.459. In conclusion, there was a significant correlation between reminiscence with cognitive function of elderly, indicating that the more frequent and varied reminiscence communication being used the more optimal elderly cognitive function will be in the nursing home in Jakarta. Finally, the elderly who have been screening and practicing communication reminiscence with strongest and variety ought to prevent early dementia.
