Engaging Open Source Technology in Resources Center Using Koha ILMS: A Case Study at Sekolah Menengah Petaling Jaya Selangor Malaysia
This study concerns the adoption of ILMS (KOHA) in Sek Men Petaling Jaya resource centre. Koha is Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) software designed and developed in the year 1999 for the purpose of management of library and information centres. This study is based on qualitative
method and applied a single case study (Yin, 2003), John et al. (2005). The study used Sek Men Petaling jaya as a case study since it’s the only school which adopted Koha ILMS. Several school teachers were interviewed. This study also applied TAM model by Davis (1989) as a conceptual
model. TAM has proven to be a theoretical model in helping to explain and forecast user behaviour of information technology (Legris et al., 2003). According to TAM, one’s actual use of a technology system is influenced directly or indirectly by the user’s behavioural intentions,
attitude, perceived usefulness of the system, and perceived ease of the system. TAM also proposes that external factors affect intention and actual use through mediated effects on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use.
