Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Restoration at Disaster Hit Area of Sindh Pakistan Through Government Support

This world experiences natural disasters in its different geographical locations at different timeframes. Natural disasters have dual affect on a community, firstly, direct affect causes infrastructural and economic loss such as access to (food, heath, finances, houses, education); secondly, indirect effects, occurs if proper recovery measures would have not taken then community suffers depression; resulting as increase in brutal activities to fulfil their livelihood. The occurrences of disasters cannot be stopped, although the precautionary and recovery measures can be taken. Previous studies shows that both the international agencies and Local Government becomes active and response to disaster recovery through provision of aid and support to entrepreneurship. This study examines such relation at disaster affected districts of Sindh Province in Pakistan. The research framework and population parameters were set, multistage sampling technique was applied to select 446 affected entrepreneurs, the responses were recorded using questionnaire and entering it into SPSS for data analysis. Data was prepared, examined, and screened. Initially, cases with outliers or missing values were deleted or transformed; secondly, the normality, linearity, Homoscedasticity, and Multicollinearity test were performed. Finally, data was entreated into regression equation in stepwise manner. It was found that the governmental support partially mediates the positive relationship in between entrepreneurship and livelihood. This concludes that if government provides support to entrepreneurs then they may support to restore a sustainable livelihood and participate to save community from depression and brutal activities.
