Textural and Surface Properties of Nanostructured Mn Oxides for the NO x SCR at Low Temperature
Nanostructured MnO
x
catalysts obtained by Solution Combustion Synthesis were tested in NO
x
SCR in the low temperature range. The material was studied by X-ray powder Diffraction; N2 isotherms at −196 °C; Field Emission Scanning
Electron Microscopy; X-ray photoelectron Spectroscopy, Temperature Programmed Reduction and NH3 Temperature Programmed Desorption with aim of assessing that the catalytic behaviour mostly depends on the average oxidation state of surface Mn species, the most active and selective
catalytic site being characterized by the highest Mn4+/Mn3+ ratio and, accordingly, the highest content of surface oxygen (O
α
) species.
