Millions of applications can be selected from the market to be installed in any smartphone and tablet, including Islamic mobile applications for religious lifestyle productivity. Most applications have become a highly used item in everyone’s life. However, the mobile application
interaction is often designed for the average general users. As older adults are starting to be an active user of mobile applications, providing awareness of important information regarding religious mobile applications is important to ease their daily routine in practicing religious activities.
This paper presents a multimethod exploration for gathering user requirements for Muslim older adults. It documents on how methodological processes were applied when identifying user requirements for the use of Islamic mobile applications. A field study with 11 older adult participants was
conducted over a period of five months. The study explored user requirements in the context of Islamic mobile applications. Qualitative methods were used to collect data, including field visits, workshops, diary studies, and interviews. The study identified older adults’ requirements
for Islamic mobile applications can be categorized as Islamic spirituality related interfaces, Islamic spirituality related contents, and mobile applications usability.
