A Design and Implementation of the Real Time 4-Channel Image Processing System for Vehicle Using the Smart Phone

Today, there are many industries emerging which shows fusion with information technologies as the information and communication technologies are developing. With that trend, there is a fusion with IT going on in automobile industry, too. In this study, the author implemented a 4-channel image processing embedded system with which the user can check out the status of an automobile from wherever at any time. Moreover, because this system has implemented the communications function (GPS and WiFi) that is possible to transmit 4-channel image on an embedded board, it is possible for the user to transmit the information on the position of the automobile to the Web server real-time and also the user can check the position of the automobile on the Web real-time. Further, the user can also the status of the automobile using 4-channel image. As an application service, it is possible, in case of theft of the automobile, for the user to transmit control commands to the automobile to control it through the Web server. While the user is driving an automobile, it is possible for the user to receive image data of the automobile through the LTE and then transmit them to the smart phone of one’s own. Using the smart phone applications, the user can check the information about the automobile and its location real-time. To enable these functions, this study, the author has implemented an Android-based Embedded board which includes 4-channel image data transmission function and communication function, a smart phone application containing a function to check images and the status of a automobile, a Web service that can check the location of an automobile and that serves as an anti-theft system, and further implemented a function where the user can perform vehicle management and check the 4-channel image of the vehicle. Hereafter, these technologies can be used as Telematics and Infotainment with smart phone.
