Premarital Sex of Adolescents at Junior High School Students in Pekanbaru, Riau

Background: Physical growth and psychological adolescents influence the teens hormonal and affect the sexual desire that makes them vulnerable to the risk of pre-marital sex. Currently, the teenagers in junior high school have been exposed to the various aspects of the negative sexual related exposures, such as touching the sensitive areas of the body that could arouse the sexual libido, kissing, necking, petting, and even the intercourse practices. This research purpose was to explain some factors affecting the pre-marital sex experiences. Methods: A quantitative study using the cross-sectional design was employed to analyze 400 students from 11 junior high schools in Pekanbaru, Riau that was selected in a stratified random sampling. Results: The result showed that 20.3% of 400 students had committed in the pre-marital sex. The peer’s influence contributed to five folds of its practices among teens, while the lack of harmonious family environment and parental supervision were significantly contributed to the pre-marital sex practices among adolescents. Conclusion: The friendship and daily life outside the home could be very influential toward the premarital sex practices among the junior high school students within the scope research respondents’ area.
