
Advancing Research and Education on Public Health for Tropical and Coastal Region
Background: Public health education in Indonesia faces a multidimensional understanding and perception among providers, users, and stakeholders as well as its diversity. A university in Indonesia is obligated to make a center of excellent in the focus of interest according to
the priority need of its society. Aim: The purpose of this evaluation research was to provide the best example of the effort and investment to advance research and education for Public Health in Coastal and Tropical Developments at Diponegoro University. Method: The method used
in this qualitative research utilized secondary data, stakeholders’ overview report review and participant observation. Results: Faculty of Public Health at Diponegoro University embraced the educational focus of interest, research agenda and community engagement to improve the
health status of the people in the tropical and coastal region. The faculty conducted initial mapping on public health main problems in the coastal area. Subsequently, the collaboration work with the Ministry of Health in Indonesia, International Non-Government Organization as well as alumni
and other sectors enhanced the effort and advancement of the educational and research in coastal and Tropical regions. Conclusion. Multi-sectoral inter-collaborations is the significant contributor to the success in advancing research and education in Public Health for Coastal and Tropical
related developments.
