The paper deals with the use of online courses for teaching/learning english for specific purposes. It particularly answers the question whether there exists any correlation between the visit rate to the course and students’ assessment (the grades after passing the courses). More than 500 technical and engineering students of IT study programmes from the Faculty of Informatics and Management (FIM), University of Hradec Kralove, participated in the research. The results detected rather strong correlation, which is one of criteria approving the use of online courses in foreign language learning.
