Quality of Work Life Among Employees of an Animal Nutrition and Health Care Company: Basis for Continuous Improvement
Quality of work life is a dynamic structure of several concepts and described by several authors using varying indicators. This study determines the quality of work life (QWL) of employees of a manufacturing and distributing company in the Philippines Data and information were summarized
from 54 retrieved instruments filled out by employees of the company using a combined researcher-made and adapted instrument. The quality of work-life was assessed using a Work-Related Quality of Life (WRQoL) Scale developed by psychologists at the University of Portsmouth consisting of six
QWL dimensions with two added dimensions on organizational communication and leadership. The instrument consists of 49 statements, evaluated using a four-point Likert Scale and has an overall 0.823 reliability index. Respondents agree that they are satisfied and have a favorable QWL inside
the company This signifies that the company develops a work environment that is splendid for people as well as for the economic health of the organization. The company ensures that the job and the work environment are structured to meet as many employees’ needs as possible. There are
factors that affect employee retention. There is significant relationship between the overall satisfaction of quality of work life and the measures of employee retention. Employees are more likely to stay longer in the organization when their employer creates employee engagement plans to ensure
open communication channels, ensures a healthy work life balance and allows flexibility to handle change.
