Electrical Properties of NiFe2O4 Ceramics and Size Dependent Metal to Semiconductor Transition
Nickel ferrite ceramics prepared with powders derived from sol–gel auto combustion have been sintered at different sintering temperatures. Changes in the structural and electrical properties are observed in ceramics with different sintering temperature. Formation of single phase
cubic NiFe2O4 ceramics is confirmed by XRD analysis. It is observed that particle size of NiFe2O4 ceramics increases with increase in sintering temperature. Metal to semiconductor transition is observed in temperature dependent conductivity data,
and is found to be influenced by the cation distribution at the B-site affecting the cation–cation (c–c) and cation–anion–cation (c–a–c) interactions.
