Structural and Optical Properties of Nickel Ferrite Thin Film Deposited by Spray Pyrolysis Technique

Homemade Spray Pyrolysis Experimental Setup was employed to deposit NiFe2O4 thin films on the glass substrate at 350 °C. X-ray diffraction studies reveal that NiFe2O4 belongs to the cubic crystal system. The scanning electron microscopic images of NiFe2O4 thin films show the distribution of nanorods and porous structures on the surface of the film. Rod shaped structures formed are randomly oriented on the surface of the film. The average visible transmittance of NiFe2O4 thin film calculated in the wavelength range 500–800 nm is about 53.6%. The maximum transmittance of NiFe2O4 thin film is 64.8% at 1100 nm. The optical band gap calculated for NiFe2O4 thin film is ~3.41 eV.
