Vase Shape UWB Antenna

For UWB applications such as for microwave imaging systems compact Microstrip Monopole Antenna has been proposed with multi resonance characteristics covering UWB band (31. GHz to 10.6 GHz). In this paper a Vase shaped Ultra-Wideband antenna is proposed. The antenna is compact in size and exhibits omni directional pattern in the UWB band. Proposed antenna is Vase modified shaped with combination of two ellipses and modified ground plane so as to cover UWB impedance bandwidth. There is a close agreement between the simulated results in HFSS simulator and CST Simulator where simulated results covers impedance UWB bandwidth from 3 GHz to 15.8 GHz which validates UWB band from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Proposed Antenna is simulated with compact dimensions of 25 × 25 mm2 on FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm. Proposed Antenna is verified by simulating gain and radiation patterns.
