In this paper, we propose a flexible image transmission mechanism in social networking systems (SNSs) so that an SNS client can adapt to local context changes such as a device type, a battery state, and network throughput. In the proposed content transmission mechanism, an SNS server is notified of a significant context change of its clients, and then provides each client with a different form of images shared in the SNS. With the support of flexible image transmission, an SNS user can keep interaction with his/her client even in resource-constrained environments.
