Analysis of Stream Data from Electric Vehicles for Energy Consumption Statistics
This paper develops an SoC (State-of-Charge) stream analyzer consisting of a road network viewer and a directory hierarchy traverser. SoC streams are collected from electric vehicles driving the roads usually taken by residents in Jeju Island. The analysis procedure investigates the battery drop ratio according to moving distance, average speed, and altitude change. In addition, a window-based estimation of the battery drop ratio identifies the sub-routes having a sharp SoC drop, mainly in the area having a significant altitude change and allowing high driving speed. As a result, this experiment finds out that we can install electric vehicle chargers just as legacy gas stations in most areas in which the vehicle speed is not so high and the elevation change remains smaller than 460 m. On the contrary, it is necessary to provide fast chargers at the locations where those routes having the high battery drop ratio begin for the drivers who may change the driving route.
