Some Aspects of Extraction Studies of Zr(IV) from HCl Medium Using TOA and Cyanex 921

Effect of various parameters on solvent extraction of zirconium(IV) from hydrochloric acid media using mixture of tri-octyl amine (TOA) and Cyanex 921 was studied. From thermodynamic studies, it was found that the extraction increases with increase in temperature. It was observed that the extraction of Zr(IV) depends on the concentration of metal ion up to 0.02 M and with further increase in metal ion concentration no variation was observed. Kerosene was found to be effective diluent from diluents variation studies.
