Structural and Electronic Properties of CdS Nanoparticles
In recent year, II–VI semiconductor nanostructures are playing a vital role in nano devices, Optoelectronics and Photonics applications due to the quantum confinement phenomena. In the present work, we have synthesized the CdS nanoparticles using the green synthesis method. Single
phase nature, particles size and strain of synthesized CdS nanoparticles has been determined using the X-ray diffraction analysis. Scanning electron microscopy was used to evaluate surface roughness and particle size of the material. The computational study of CdS nanoparticles have been performed
using ab-initio based Atomistic Tool Kit-virtual Nanolab (ATK-VNL) to determine the structural and electronic properties. Structural properties like lattice constant are quite matched with the experimental result. Band structure of CdS shows the band gap 1.4 eV which matches well with
the existing band gap of CdS nanoparticle.
