Energy Saving for an Evaporative Air-Conditioning System in a Poultry House by a Season Mode Controller

This paper presents an energy saving method for an evaporative air-conditioning system in a poultry house by employing a season mode controller. Air condition parameters such as dry-bulb temperature, absolute humidity, rate of ventilation, and make up water flow rate were collected at real condition in order to construct a mathematical model of the poultry house. Plant's actuators (fan and pump) operation and their energy consumption in summer (March), winter (November), and rainy season (July) were recorded and compared with simulation of devices operation using a sliding mode base season mode controller. The predicted inside temperature and humidity had their average errors from their actual value by 0.12% and 0.2%, respectively. Then the model was used to predict dry-bulb temperature and absolute humidity in the poultry house. The energy consumption comparison revealed capability of the controller to conserve energy during the actuators operation.
