A Study on Land Carrying Capacity of Hunan Province
As an important region of food production in China Hunan Province has got a strategic position in the national food security system. This article does some analysis on the history and trend of land resources and population of Hunan Province, which shows that the provincial land carrying
capacity is ever-decreasing because of the increasing population, improved living standards and decreasing cultivated land area. By adopting grey prediction model GM (1, 1), the article also does a prediction of the provincial land carrying capacity of 2020, which shows that the ratio of land
carrying capacity on the consumption level of abundant type will be only 74.1%, and there will be 19.79 million overloaded people in Hunan Province in 2020. So the trend of land carrying capacity in Hunan Province is not optimism though with the improvement of agricultural science and technology.
