The Integration of Radio Frequency Identification and Smart Phone for Mobile Nursing Information System Development
High nursing reliability and good health care quality are important. This study develops the mobile nursing information system (MNIS) design through Android and embeds it within the smart phone. The MNIS considers critical factors of human-computer interaction (HCI) and aggregates a three-layer function architecture to support nursing jobs. The MNIS is integrated with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for automatic identification that avoids personnel medical malpractice and disputes. Identification ability also enables MNIS personalization implementation. A vender-free communication stake (including wifi and 3G protocols) is represented to ensure multiple RFID interaction across venders. To demonstrate MNIS feasibility, three-level MNIS applications are implemented. This study presents an MNIS that emphasizes colorful representation and graphic icons that enable hospital nurses to associate the operation information. Medicinal staffs are able to receive real-time information through MNIS and facilitate providing correct medical treatment. The MNIS enables higher nursing reliability to achieve better patient-physician relationships.
