Although the role of interactive imagery on paired-associate learning has been well established, little is known about how it influences the processes that support associative recognition. In this study, we tested the effects of interactive imagery on associative recognition using a Remember-Know procedure. The results showed that interactive imagery could enhance the performance of associative recognition, and this effect reflected changes in recollection but not in familiarity. These results have implications for the use of interactive imagery as a mnemonic device to facilitate associative learning. The application of interactive imagery to software development and web design should be valued.
