Optimal Control Conditions with Differential-Algebraic Equation Constraints

The paper investigates a kind of optimal control problems with restricted control variables, and the state equations of which are depicted by a general differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). A functional extreme value problem is obtained from the optimal control model with DAE constraints. By means of the variational principle, necessary conditions of optimality for the functional extreme value problems are given. In addition, a minimum condition of optimality is shown based on those necessary conditions. Then an analytical way to solve optimal control problems (OCPs) is proposed by using necessary and minimum conditions. Finally, a well-known chemical engineering model is shown to explain our results.
