Study on Silhouette Design of Female Suit Based on Visual Cognition for a Scientific Design Method

With competition increased in market, product design has transformed from production-orientation to consumption-orientation, fashion design also is no exception. Suit is fashion favorites, especially female suit, which is claimed by women in career all over the world. Silhouette of suit which can modify figure of women is very important. According to visual cognition, effect of silhouette design factors including waist, length and hem was discussed in this paper to analyze how these factors influence people's feeling, just like feeling of profession, favorite and so on. E-prime, instead of traditional questionnaires was used to get data. The behavior results showed participants' feeling of profession, favorite are significant influenced and changed regularly with waist, length and hem opening measurement increased. The interactions of factors also affected people's feeling. The results may provide based research for evaluation system of innovative fashion.
