Investigation on the Photoinduced Interaction of Water Soluble Thio Glycolic Acid Capped CdSe Quantum Dots with Lysozyme

Water soluble thio glycolic acid (TGA) capped CdSe quantum dots (QDs) was synthesized and its photoinduced interaction with lysozyme has been studied by absorption, steady state, time resolved and synchronous fluorescence measurements. It was found that the interaction of lysozyme occurred on the surface of CdSe QDs. The binding constant and number of binding sites were calculated from the relevant fluorescence data. Quenching follows static mechanism which was confirmed by time resolved fluorescence measurements. Conformational changes on the microenvironment of lysozyme have been studied using synchronous fluorescence measurement. Further, the influence of common ions on the binding constant has also been explored.
