The Evolution of Organ Allocation for Liver Transplantation
The transplant community is currently debating a proposal to reduce geographic disparity in liver transplant availability through a novel proposal to create larger, mathematically optimized sharing districts. Broader sharing is expected to decrease disparity in severity of illness at transplant, reduce death on the waiting list, and increase overall transplant benefit.
