Tallsmania Mekistonema, a New Atlantic Species of the Family Alepocephalidae (Pisces: Salmoniformes)

Talismania mekistonema, a new species of the family Alepocephalidae, is described based on material from six Atlantic localities. The new species is compared with the other four members of the genus Talismania. The benthic habit, depth range, and geographical distribution
of T. mekistonema are discussed. New Atlantic records of T. longifilis Brauer and T. oregoni Parr are also reported.
