Object-oriented modelling for CAPP open architecture
[A]Abstract. Tremendous efforts have been made to develop computer aided process planning CAPP systems. However, conceptual research on theoretical models, frameworks and architecture is still insufficient. The current situation is that different CAPP systems have been developed, while research on methodology has made only limited progress. The process planning architecture continues to be more suitable to traditional CAPP than to current CAPP trends. A new modelling method for the CAPP open architecture based on the object-oriented O-O computing technique is presented. The hierarchical structure of the main components for the open architecture-product information model PIM , process planning model PMM , manufacturing capability model MCM and synthetic constraint model SCM-are discussed in detail. The aim is to contribute to expanding previous function-specific and domain-dependent CAPP to a function-driven and domain-independent innovator in terms of system integration and concurrent engineering CE .
