Syntheses, solid-state structures and thermal analyses of M(Bp)2 (M=Cu, Ni) (Bp=H2B(pyrazolyl)2)

Reaction of a mixture of CuCl2, Ni(CH3COO)2 and NaH2B(pz)2 in methanol solution, resulted in the dihydrobis(pyrazolyl)borate complexes Cu(H2B(pz)2)2 and Ni(H2B(pz)2)2, respectively. Complexes 1 and 2 were characterized by IR, elemental analyses, thermal analyses and X-ray diffraction. The two complexes both crystallize in the space group Pbca, with crystal parameters for complex 1 a = 14.443(3) Å, b = 6.2162(12) Å, c = 17.865(4) Å, α =  =  = 90°, V = 1604.0(5) Å3, Z = 4; for complex 2 a = 14.5264(4) Å, b = 6.3235(2) Å, c = 17.4720(4) Å, α =  =  = 90°, V = 1604.94(8) Å3, Z = 4, respectively. X-ray structure analysis has shown that complexes 1 and 2 are both monomeric neutral complexes, and possess similar coordination modes around the metal centers.
