Numerical Simulation of Landfill Gas Migration Around a Vertical Extraction Well in Xiangshan Landfill

In this article, a numerical model based on the boundary element method is established to investigate the migration of landfill gas. The model is validated through comparing a numerical solution with an analytical solution under ideal conditions. The numerical modeling of landfill gas migration in Xiangshan landfill with vertical extraction wells is conducted. The average relative error is less than 4% compared with the analytical solution and approximately 6.5% compared with in-situ monitored data, respectively. Subsequently, methane concentration distribution and influence radius of the extraction well are obtained by this model, which are both important in the design of a landfill gas collection system.
