Open Access Piezoresistance Effects of Germanium

It is difficult now to imagine life without dependence on a multitude of electronic devices that permeate our day-to-day endeavours. Most of these devices depend on a number of factors, one of which is the phenomenon of piezoresistance. Professor Kazunori Matsuda, a researcher in microelectronics and semiconductor engineering in the Department of Nano Material and Bio Engineering at Tokushima Bunri University, is leading a team which has been working on the piezoresistance effect and the established theoretical model for silicon. Matsuda's project objective is to verify the piezoresistance effect of germanium both experimentally and theoretically. The team hopes that their results will provide a breakthrough into research in the current semiconductor physics.
