Open Access Environmental design: a new, sustainable era

As the world recognises the importance of reversing environmental damage, sustainable practices are increasingly adopted in all facets of life. Growing urban populations are resulting in environmental and urban problems, which necessitate sustainable solutions. Japan has long been a country that has embraced sustainability and this encompasses sustainable design and sustainable cities. Key to the concept of sustainable cities is recovering green areas, fields and forests, alongside reducing excessive fuel use, devising new energy saving systems and, of course, sustainability.
