Extraction of relevant glass melting parameters based on the pairwise comparisons of sample images from a furnace
In this article we present a methodology for the extraction of the quantitative criteria used by melters when assessing the glass melting process using an image from a camera installed in the furnace. We invited several melting experts to participate in our survey by assessing sample glass surface images. An analysis of their responses using a backward Analytic Hierarchy Process led to the formalization of the experts' experience, which can be used to automate the process. The result of the analysis is a set of criteria, which can be automatically calculated from an image of the glass surface, and corresponding coefficients that reflect the importance of these criteria in the quality of the process.
