New and rare morphotypes of chrysophycean stomatocysts from Poland
Two new morphotypes: Stomatocysts 2 and 3 Cabała are described following International Statospore Working Group (ISWG) guidelines and illustrated by SEM and LM micrographs. Stomatocyst 3 van de Vijver & Beyens and stomatocyst 211 Duff & Smol are recorded for the first time from Poland and Europe. The studied material originated from a small peat bog which is threatened; only ca. 30% of its area has been relatively little affected by human activity.The remainder is covered with rubble brought from neighbouring Kraków. It is the last peat bog on the Kraków-Czestochowa Upland that still possesses a rich algal flora, but it probably will cease to exist in the near future because it is still being filled. The biological affinity and full ecological preferences of these cysts have not been determined so far.
