Migration literature in the teaching and learning of German as a foreign language in West Africa Teaching and learning a foreign language involves mediating and acquiring linguistic and cultural competencies. Literature plays an important part in achieving these goals. In this paper the special relevance of migration literature in the West African context of learning German as a foreign language is investigated which, as is argued, can help to elucidate the dialogue between cultures. By reading and analysing migration literature, learners are helped to reflect on and acquire cultural and intercultural competencies.
