Commentary: The Coast Guard and Sea Power in the Twenty-First Century
The sea power of the United States is asserted to protect a national security that involves more than national defense. This paper outlines the importance of the Coast Guard to U.S. national security, and argues for the Service to be permitted to recapitalize its equipment for deep-water duties through the orderly funding of its Integrated Deepwater System (IDS).
